Membership Dues

The Medical Act stipulates payment of the prescribed annual membership fees to the New Brunswick Medical Society as a condition of Licensure. Membership fees are due annually in January.

REGULAR - Eligible to vote and participate on Board/Committees/AGM
Ordinary
Includes members who hold a regular, defined, special or clinical assistant license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of New Brunswick as well as Atlantic Registry members with New Brunswick as their home province.
*Recipients of the Life Member Award, CMA Honorary Member Award or the NBMS Honorary Member Award have their membership fees waived.

Medical Students
Medical students who are enrolled in any Faculty of Medicine can apply here for membership.

Residents
Physicians who are registered on the Medical Register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick as post-graduate trainees can apply here for membership.

Retired Member
Members who no longer hold an active license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick and who are no longer practicing in any capacity due to retirement.
*Recipients of the Life Member Award, CMA Honorary Member Award or the NBMS Honorary Member Award have their membership fees waived.

ASSOCIATE - No vote or participation on Board/Committees/AGM
Special Circumstance
Members who hold a Border Area or Courtesy license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick and occasionally practice medicine in NB or come to NB to hold a clinic or assist in a teaching capacity.

Non-Practicing
Members who no longer hold an active license to practice with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick but wish to maintain a non-practicing NBMS membership. The member must have held an ordinary membership for a two-year period prior.

Members who hold a locum license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.

Negotiated Program Benefit Payments to NBMS Members


Your membership dues allow the NBMS to continue to advocate on your behalf through our economic work with the Department of Health, our policy and advocacy work to improve the health-care system and the health of New Brunswick patients, and member services, such as the NBMS Wellness program, Covid PPE supplies, education opportunities through our partnership with both University of Sherbrooke and Dalhousie University.
