Statement on today’s announcement from Edmundston physicians

The New Brunswick Medical Society has called for the construction of new nursing homes as part of the solution to better care for Alternate Level of Care patients waiting in hospital. We are pleased that the opening of the new Domaine des Bâtisseurs nursing home in Edmundston will increase the region’s capacity to care for patients who need the services of a nursing home.

New Brunswick’s doctors care about the well-being and safety of patients. We respect the concern Edmundston physicians have shown for residents of the new nursing home, and share their concerns for adequate physician coverage. The New Brunswick Medical Society welcomes the opportunity to expedite these discussions with the government.
