Statement on changes to Ambulance New Brunswick
The New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS) applauds the initiative proposed by the provincial government to reduce ambulance response times across the province.
Quick transportation to the emergency room can be critical for patients. Addressing non-urgent transportation with a separate service to and from homes, nursing homes and other health-care facilities has the potential to improve access to timely care for our patients. With two separate systems in place, both paramedics and emergency room physicians will be better prepared to handle urgent care.
We are encouraged by this initiative and hope that it will lead to more effective, efficient ambulance service.
