The NBMS and the province of New Brunswick have negotiated a Fee-for-Service Retention Fund. This program provides an incentive for New Brunswick’s fee-for-service physicians to remain in active practice in New Brunswick.
According to program guidelines, fee-for-service physicians who provide 15 or more consecutive years of service to New Brunswick patients through Medicare will be eligible to receive a lump sum payment from the program after they have relinquished their Medicare billing number.
There are special “years of service” provisions for physicians who die or become completely disabled prior to reaching the 15-year benchmark.
Locums are not eligible to participate in the Retention Fund Program.
Members may view their yearly retention statement, apply for retention funding or find more program details by visiting My Account.
