Statement on mandatory mask changes in Zones 1 and 5

The recent change to the orange level in Zones 1 and 5 is concerning but by adhering to public health guidelines, we can overcome the challenge we face. The New Brunswick Medical Society supports the revised mask policy issued by Public Health and the Province of New Brunswick that community masks will be mandatory in all indoor and outdoor public spaces including areas where the public gathers, common areas, public transportation and outdoor public spaces.

The steps we take today will influence how our province manages the community spread of COVID-19.  Practising hand hygiene, wearing masks, physical distancing and adhering to public health recommendations are ways to minimize the spread of the virus.”
