Statement on hospital security challenges
“The New Brunswick Medical Society is extremely concerned by the failure of government, the regional health authorities, and a third-party security firm to provide adequate security in New Brunswick hospitals. There has been growing evidence for many months that our hospitals are woefully unprepared for security incidents; this is simply unacceptable. New Brunswickers should know that their health facilities are safe, secure environments. Health-care practitioners work long, difficult hours providing care to New Brunswickers; they should not have to worry about their safety or the safety of their patients. The provincial government and regional health authorities must work immediately to find a solution to this problem.”
