Statement on COVID-19 recovery fund in New Brunswick
The New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS) is pleased to learn that the provincial government is dedicating a significant portion of federal funding for COVID-19 recovery to the health of New Brunswickers. Government has pledged to spend $60 million on personal protective equipment, $60 million for testing and contact tracing, and $24 million for health-care capacity. This is positive news that will support New Brunswick’s battle against COVID-19. Physicians are ready to work with government to determine how these dollars can best support the health of our population and the future of our health system.
The NBMS reminds citizens that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over. We must work together to keep the curve flat. Please continue to follow the advice of Public Health. Respect physical distancing measures and wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible. Wash hands regularly and continue good sanitization practices.
