Physicians working to maintain health services during labour dispute

Physicians across New Brunswick are working diligently to maintain necessary health services during the ongoing provincial labour dispute. We remain concerned that important health-care services have been cancelled, delayed, or otherwise disrupted as a result of this dispute, including important surgeries and procedures, ambulatory care clinics, laboratory services, imaging, and COVID-19 assessment and vaccination clinics. Physicians are in the challenging position of continuing to provide care to patients including taking on additional duties while respecting the efforts of organized labour groups. Ultimately, we must ensure patients are care for to the best of our abilities.

The New Brunswick Medical Society strongly encourages the provincial government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible to find a way to end this dispute.
