The issues around physician-assisted death are no clearer than they were yesterday. We have no legislation from provincial or federal governments, and doctors are left with a vague ruling from the Supreme Court of Canada to guide their clinical decisions – a ruling intended for the courtroom rather than the clinic. It’s very clear that provinces around the country, including New Brunswick, are scrambling to deal with this issue, even after the ruling was issued 16 months ago.
Doctors and patients are anxiously awaiting more clarity from lawmakers.
