The New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS) is disappointed to learn that a physician is at the centre of the COVID-19 outbreak in northern New Brunswick. The NBMS fully supports an investigation into how this situation unfolded. Like all New Brunswickers, physicians and other health-care providers have a responsibility to follow Public Health guidelines and the provincial state of emergency.
We are concerned about the consequences this situation has imposed on the residents and businesses in northern New Brunswick.
The New Brunswick Medical Society is not involved in the investigation of this matter. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick is the licensing body, responsible for monitoring standards of medical practice and investigating complaints against physicians.
