How to Become a Member
Physicians who will be practicing in New Brunswick should register first with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. The College will automatically advise the New Brunswick Medical Society of new registrants and the Society will, in turn, mail out a membership enrollment package.

New Brunswick Physicians will work with Province to monitor blood system
January 13, 2011 - The New Brunswick Medical Society is ready to work with the Province of New Brunswick and Canadian Blood Services to ensure that patients throughout New Brunswick continue to receive top quality blood products when and where they are needed.

Since the release of the KPMG independent review of options for blood services in New Brunswick, we recommended that the Province establish a monitoring program to ensure the supply and distribution of blood products is appropriately managed. We are pleased that the Province of New Brunswick has committed to this and has invited collaboration from the medical community. The monitoring system should play a central role in setting targets during the implementation of the CBS facilities redevelopment plan. In addition, the monitoring system should also safeguard that blood services in New Brunswick keep pace with the continued growth of new and emerging medical services. New Brunswickers should receive blood products and service levels that are the same or better than other Canadians.

The physicians of New Brunswick are prepared to move forward, in collaboration with all partners to develop a transparent and accountable monitoring process that will reassure patients and the medical community. The New Brunswick Medical Society is asking government to expedite the establishment of this process.
